These terms apply to everyone who uses Firms on Record (firmsonrecord.com), and to firms that create an account, claim a profile or buy a plan. By using the site you accept them.

What this site is

Firms on Record is a directory and advertising medium. It is not a law firm, a lawyer referral service or an insurance producer, and it does not recommend or endorse any listing. Listings and their content are provided by or about the businesses listed.

We do not refer anyone to a lawyer or an agent, we do not match visitors with businesses, and we receive nothing when a visitor contacts a listed business. Visitors reach a business only through its own phone number and website. How listings are ordered is described on how listings are ordered; the rules we follow are on compliance.

Listings start from public licensing records. We check them against their sources but records can be out of date. Before relying on a license, check it with the issuing body. Report a mistake through remove or correct a listing.

Firm accounts

• Accounts are for people who work at, or are authorized to act for, a listed law firm or insurance business. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email; keep access to that mailbox secure.
• To claim a profile you give your name, role, the firm’s website and a license or registration number, and you accept this statement: “I confirm this profile complies with the advertising rules of every state where I am licensed, and I am responsible for its content.”
• We confirm a claim either automatically (your email’s domain matches the firm’s website, and the website shows the phone number or address from the public record) or by calling the phone number on the public record. A license number alone never confirms a claim.
• Each profile has one owner. If someone else claims a profile that already has an owner, we review it by hand and tell the current owner.
• We may refuse, reverse or suspend a claim or an account that appears false, unauthorized or in breach of these terms.

Content you add

You are responsible for everything you add to a profile, and for making sure it complies with the advertising rules of every state where the firm’s lawyers or agents are licensed. In particular:

• Firm-submitted copy may not include past results, case values, testimonials or client quotes.
• No mention of certification or “specialist” unless the state certification is on record.
• A paid law firm profile cannot be published until it names a responsible attorney and an office address.
• Content must be accurate, must be yours to use (including logos, photos and videos) and must not mislead.

Every edit is screened automatically. Edits that may break these rules are held for review, and we may edit, refuse or remove content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, show and adapt your content (for example, resizing images) on Firms on Record for as long as it is on your profile.

Paid law firm profiles are labeled “Attorney Advertising”.

Paid plans

• Plans are flat subscriptions in US dollars: Premium at $49 a month or $490 a year, and Spotlight at $149 a month or $1,490 a year. We never charge per lead, click, call or case.
• Payments are processed by Kelviq, which acts as merchant of record and handles payment details, receipts and sales tax. Kelviq’s buyer terms also apply to your purchase. We never see your full card number.
• Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can update your card or cancel from the billing page in your account. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Refunds follow the refund policy (annual plans: within 14 days of purchase).
• If a payment fails, the paid features stay on until 7 days after the end of the paid period. If the payment is still not made, the profile moves to the Free plan; its listing, license record and contact details stay on the directory.
• A plan starts when Kelviq confirms the payment to us, not when the checkout page closes.
• Founding offer: while it runs, the first 100 paid firms in each directory (law firms, insurance) get 40% off for the first 12 months. The discount is applied at checkout when available and cannot be added later.
• Spotlight: the owner chooses one city page for a practice area or insurance line, and the matching state page comes with it. Each page shows at most three sponsored listings, in random order, labeled “Sponsored”. Pages that already have three sponsors cannot be chosen. More pages are available only through an advertising inquiry.
• Nothing an advertiser pays for changes ordering rules, license data, AI visibility measurements or editorial content.
• We may change prices for future billing periods. We will email you before a change applies to your plan.

AI visibility measurements

The AI visibility measurement is never called a rating, rank or quality score. Every claimed profile, free or paid, is measured once. Measurements are made by VisibAI as described in the methodology. They describe how AI assistants answered at one point in time; we do not promise any visibility, ranking or result.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the site: no false claims or impersonation, no attempts to get around rate limits or security checks, no automated bulk copying that burdens the service, and no use of listing contact details for unsolicited marketing.

Disclaimers and liability

The site and the free tools are provided “as is”, for general information. Nothing on the site is legal or insurance advice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to a firm is limited to the amount it paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law.

Ending your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. If a change matters for firms with an account, we will email them before it applies. These terms are governed by the laws of the state named in the operator details above, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
